Bio
NOYA, a contemporary ceramic artist who uses the concept of her pieces as a bonding experience to create complicity with other curious people about nature and science; sometimes asking them to intervene directly in the piece, sometimes through hidden treasures within, so the discovery becomes the connection.
Always starting a new series with previous research, her work expresses a personal interpretation between different scientific fields and how that knowledge affects her day-to-day life, where in our bodies we experience this world: the connections, the irony, the contradictions, the human experience of a universe we barely understand.
I want the piece to feel like a small, magical experience, but a very personal one, like we’ve known each other for a while.
Formally trained in Architecture (UMSA, La Paz), NOYA, Noellia Becerra, born in 1987 and currently based in La Paz, Bolivia, fell in love with clay in 2015 and transitioned her focus completely to ceramics, studying at the National Academy of Fine Arts and then specializing in contemporary craft in Barcelona at La Massana and La Industrial between 2018 and 2020.
This dual background in structure gives her a unique approach to form and concept, with works held in private collections in Europe, the Americas, and Australia.
